Nutrition Operations Manager

  • The Gold Beach Community Center in a non-profit organization with the mission to provide a gathering place to enhance the quality of life for the young to old. We are organized to promote and provide quality food services and activities that will contribute to the physical, emotional, and social well-being of its members and the community at large. It is an approximately 6,000 square foot facility fully owned and operated as a non-profit, independent organization. The Center features an office, kitchen, dining room, recreation room and large parking lot area for outdoor activities.

    Under the direction and supervision of the Board of Directors, the Nutrition Operations Manager position is created to oversee the Nutrition for All Ages Programs and related Activities Programs. The Nutrition Operations Manager will provide and sustain institutional knowledge when the Board of Directors changes.

    This position is grant funded. It is a part-time position and hours will not exceed an average of 20 hours per week over the course of each month.

    • Coordinates the Nutrition for All Ages Programs (Congregate Dining and Meals on Wheels) and assumes primary communication with Area Agency on Aging for contractual obligations of the Older Americans Act.

    • Works closely with the Board of Directors and the Kitchen Manager-Cook to ensure quality and smooth food services to the public.

    • Oversees daily operations of the Nutrition Program, which includes recruitment, training and evaluation of volunteers for a variety of tasks in conjunction with the Board of Directors and the Kitchen Manager-Cook.

    • Coordinates all Activities Programs hosted by the Center for the Nutrition Program.

    • Assists with special fundraising events hosted by the Center.

    • Assists the Board of Directors in developing, implementing, and promoting marketing strategies for the Nutrition Program, which may include promotional events, speaking engagements, marketing tools, advertisement of the Center and maintaining the Center’s website.

    • Assists the Board of Directors in developing and implementing the annual budget for the Nutrition Program.

    • Provides administrative support by answering questions and maintaining correspondence with the public and other agencies including consortium members (South Coast Business Employment Corporation, the Curry County Homeless Coalition, and the Curry Health Improvement Plan workgroups).

    • Assists in the coordination of the rental of the facility by outside entities with the Kitchen Manager-Cook and Board of Directors.

    • Attends the monthly Board of Directors meetings to report on the Nutrition for All Ages and Activities Programs.

    • Other duties as requested by the Board of Directors.

    • Strong management and administrative skills, preferably one to three years of program leadership.

    • Responsive to the needs of others using good judgement, leadership, and acting in a sensitive and compassionate manner.

    • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

    • Ability to establish and maintain effective and positive working relationships.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.

    • Successful completion of Oregon Department of Health Food Handlers Permit.

    • Successful Background Screen result.

    • Ability to provide courteous service to all customers.

    • Experience working with programs that serve seniors, low-income, diverse and multicultural clients.

    • Experience with volunteer management.

    • High School Diploma.

    • Higher education desirable.

    • One year experience in direct customer interface such as hospitality, healthcare, or similar field.

    • Ability to walk short distances frequently.

    • Ability to stand for prolonged periods occasionally.

    • Ability to move one’s body to sit, stoop, bend, climb and twist frequently.

    • Ability to climb stairs occasionally.

    • Ability to sit for prolonged periods often.

    • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods often.

    • Ability to carry items weighing up to 25 pounds occasionally.

  • Fill out an application and bring it to the Gold Beach Community Center Tuesdays through Fridays from 10am to 1pm. We are located at 29841 Airport Way, Gold Beach, OR, just a block south from the Post Office.
