Our Stragetic Goals

Foster Solutions and partnerships to reduce food insecurity in our community.

  • Deliver seven fully balanced and nutritious meals to homebound seniors and disabled persons twice a week from Ophir/Nesika Beach to Pistol River and east to the Lobster Creek Bridge, i.e. Meals on Wheels.

  • Provide lunchtime meals to the community Tuesday through Friday for a suggested donation of $8 (people donate what they are able to).

Promote a healthy lifestyle through a community nutrition program and social activities.

  • In partnership with Oregon State University Extension Service, present a “Healthy Lifestyle - Lunch and Learn” series once a month on healthy nutrition.

  • Provide a gathering place for social activities, such as ping pong, stretch and balance, cards and board games, and meet-up groups.

Meals on Wheels

We serve 40 - 42 home-bound people a week through our Meals on Wheels program. They each receive seven meals a week delivered to their homes by our dedicated VOLUNTEER drivers and are provided to them at no-cost.

Each meal costs $11.75 to prepare and we receive $3.00 in government assistance. The remaining we have to raise through grants, donations, and fundraisers.

If you or someone you know is in need of Meals on Wheels, please contact us.

Gratitude for Meals on Wheels

Dear Friends, You have been my savior for these past few months. I can’t thank you enough, not only for the food, but for the kind and loving people who have delivered the food to me. I think I need to stop the food. I know there are a lot more people who need the service more than me. You were there when I really needed it. Thank you so much.- Robin, January 2024

Heartfelt Messages from Volunteer Drivers

“Our customers are shut-ins. When I knock on their door it can become more social human contact than about the food. They answer their door with walkers or canes, etc., but they all have a big smile. You feel as if you are their greatest friend.” - Judy, May 2024

“We left with a combination of 55 meals, salads and milk and each driver has a different configuration. Our amazing kitchen staff gets it right every time. Such a gratifying job delivering to all our grateful clients who become our friends. We trade stories about our kids and grand-kids and talk fishing, baseball, and our crazy Oregon weather.” - Susan, March 2024

Healthy Lifestyles

We provide a fun and safe gathering place where everyone is welcome and everyone belongs. Tuesday through Friday people gather together for much-needed social interaction to enhance their quality of life. Any day of the week we are open, you will hear laughter, and you will see friends, new and old, spending time together.

Friends are playing cards, board games, and sewing, knitting and crocheting together. They are participating in stretch and balance classes and playing lively games of ping pong.

If you would like to see a new activity start up at the Community Center, just let us know and we’ll see if we can make it happen!
